Swane, a 30-something successful business lawyer living in Paris, yearns for a more fulfilling life. After several IV attempts fail, it has taken its toll on her marriage and herself. To take a breath, Swane decides to visit her father, who lives in the country. He offers to let her write a story on the different religions that coexist on a Réunion Island; she jumps at the chance. The arrival of Swane on this unknown land is a sensory and visual shock. She is to collaborate with Joey, a former New York Times reporter. Different characters from different cultures and faith meet at his hotel, where he prepares for tourist season. Now Swane must uncover the magic that the island holds, deal with the unexpected presence of her mother, and come to terms with a childhood trauma she has not been able to let go, all while experiencing what it's like to truly live.
